Marcus M. Wilkerson papers, 1923-1958.

Papers consist chiefly of correspondence, reports, speeches, photographs, and class and lecture notes pertaining to Wilkerson's professional life as professor of journalism at Louisiana State University and director of the LSU Press. The papers also include charters, rosters, by-laws, and other items documenting his involvement in LSU honor societies and fraternities and Baton Rouge civic and social organizations such as the LSU chapters of Sigma Chi and Phi Kappa Phi fraternities, the Rotary Club in Baton Rouge, and the Baton Rouge Country Club. Other items in the papers include newspaper articles dating from 1923-1928 that describe the new LSU campus; photographs of the campus from the same period; a genealogical history of the Crowell family; a complete list of books in the LSU journalism library, dated 1940; and an undated list of newspapers in the LSU main library.
